The field of psychology is connected to the principle of social justice because many of the issue have psychological issues that many of us did not really think about. Another thing is that psychology has to the do with the human brain and many issue in the world involve the human brain and some of the issue is due to the fact that the brain is not functioning right or it is not healthy. This is the connection of the field of psychology and the principle of social justice.
The three psychological concept of men body image is Disorder and treatments, Personality, and Perception. Disorder and treatment surrounds men body image because as we most commonly to achieve that the ideal body image many men go to the extent and start a diet that leads to an eating disorder. In the article “Cognitive Behavior Therapy as a Treatment for Body Image Dissatisfaction” by Catherine Faucher it states “Dissatisfaction with one's body can be used as a diagnostic criteria for eating disorders. A negative body image is associated with both anorexia and bulimia nervosa. Patients with binge-eating disorder also report significant amounts of distress over body image (Rosen, 1995).”[1] This matter because it becoming more common in our daily life and body dissatisfaction. Another is Personality because at a young age we are expose to the image of the ideal body and that really affects the growth to adulthood. In the article “Media Exposure and the "Perfect" Body it states “As well, media influences play an important role in personality development, peer pressure, and the development of a sense of identity as adolescents make the transition to young adulthood.”[2] This matters because as small age we don’t want to grow up feeling like we have to look a certain way to be accepted or looked attractive. Lastly, Perception because many of the men that see their body always see it as something that in reality it is not. For example in the article “Media Exposure and the "Perfect" Body” it states “When rated for physical attractiveness, there was a strong negative correlation between perceived attractiveness and body shape with bigger characters considered less attractive.” This illustrate that many men perceive the definition of attractiveness in a wrong way and they change the meaning. These are the psychological concept of men body image.
The psychological concepts to solve the problems is perception, personality, and cognitive. The perception the way men see each other when it comes to the issue of men body image. The personality men being able to accept their body when it comes to looking in the mirror and being told otherwise. The cognitive the way of thinking when it comes to body image that there is not such thing as the ideal body image. These are the psychological concepts that could solve the problem.
The field of psychology is important to humanity because it really shows us many things about ourselves that we don’t think about in our everyday life. Also it helps us understand many things that really we don’t think about when it comes to the human brain. Another thing is that we can used it to positively change the world because like my issue that psychology can be use to solve the problem many others can be solve with psychology. These are way that psychology can be used to positively change the world.
The major take away that I have acquire from AP psychology is that many of the solution that we as world are looking for our in the brain. Another thing is that many issues that we have are very commonly looked in the field of psychology. Also that me as a person was changed because I never did think that we could find so many issues in our brain and solve them with our brain. These are the take away that I have acquired from AP psychology.
